夏休みの最後にユニセフを訪問しました。
動画で世界の厳しい状況に置かれている子どもたちの様子を勉強。
その後、ワークショップ「インドの紙袋作り」を体験し、1日働いてもオレンジを数個しか買うことができない現状、それでも児童労働をせざるを得ず教育の機会を奪われている子どもたちのことを知りました。
また戦争で苦しむ人々について話し合ったり、支援物資の見学をし、日本に住むわたしたちに何ができるのかを考えるよい機会となりました。
お教えくださったユニセフの皆さま、子どもたちにとって厳しいながらも世界を感じる学びを与えていただき、心から感謝です。
その後、平和記念公園でチームに分かれて外国人観光客に英語で質問しました。
初めての経験にドキドキの子もいましたが、以前チャレンジしたお姉さんたちは果敢にインタビューしました。
様々な国の方々が平和について考えるため広島を訪れていることを感じました。
また、楽しい質問として盛り上がったのは「あなたの好きな漫画やアニメは？」でした。
世界について平和について考える1日となりました。

At the end of summer vacation, I visited UNICEF. I studied the harsh conditions children around the world are facing through videos. Afterwards, I participated in a workshop where I experienced making paper bags from India. I learned about the current situation where even after a day's work, children can only afford to buy a few oranges, yet they are forced into child labor, depriving them of educational opportunities.
We also discussed people suffering from wars, toured support supplies, and pondered what we, living in Japan, can do to help. I am deeply grateful to the UNICEF staff who provided learning experiences that allow children to feel the world despite its harshness.
Later, we split into teams at the Peace Memorial Park and interviewed foreign tourists in English. Some of the children were nervous for their first experience, but the older ones who had tried before bravely conducted interviews. I felt that people from various countries were visiting Hiroshima to contemplate about peace. Also, a question that sparked excitement was "What is your favorite manga or anime?"
It was a day to reflect on the world and peace.
